The eligibility requirements listed below apply only to the local Northern Cass Dollars for Scholars (NCDFS) Scholarships.

 

If you are interested in or are pursuing any of the regional and/or national scholarships through the Scholarship America system, please see each individual regional and/or national scholarship as eligibility and associated requirements will vary.

 

The information given below is also discussed in a detailed step-by-step process at the school level by way of a specific presentation given to seniors:

  • In a location within the school during the regular school day

  • Usually at the beginning of the graduating year, typically January timeframe​

​​In order to be eligible for any local NCDFS scholarship(s) and/or "sponsored" or "endowment" scholarship(s) generated by outside local donor(s) you must:

  1. Be a graduating senior attending Northern Cass School (District-Northern Cass 97)

  2. Graduate in the scholarship year (the year in which the scholarship(s) is/are available for awarding, this list has the potential to change annually)

  3. Create a profile/account through the NCDFS website at:

    • Northern Cass Dollars for Scholars

    • Creating your profile/account can be done anytime during your Northern Cass tenure, however, the local NCDFS Scholarships have a specific opening, closing, and acceptance timeline during your graduating year which will be discussed later. 

    • You may have access to regional/national scholarships sooner/later than local NCDFS scholarships so make sure you check each applicable scholarship for their requirements

  4. Fully complete your profile and application through the NCDFS website

  5. Apply to local NCDFS scholarships

  6. Participating in the Northern Cass Phone-A-Thon

    • The Phone-A-Thon is a call-center type event where eligible seniors come together at Northern Cass and call members of the community for donations to NCDFS.

    • Call lists are divided among participants

    • Food and beverages are usually provided during event

  7. Attend Awards Night

    • This is the night you will find out which scholarship(s) you were awarded

    • If you are awarded any local scholarships, you MUST attend this event

  8. Write a THANK YOU card/letter to each donor whose scholarship(s) you were awarded

    • Pictures of awards recipients are taken declaring their college of choice, workforce field of choice, or military affiliation of choice

    • Thank You cards are given to the award recipients, after picture(s) and signing is complete

    • Date of this event is normally towards the end of May of the graduating year, addresses for the Thank You card(s) will be given at this time

 

Failure to fully complete or participate in any of the above listed items will disqualify you for participation in the local NCDFS process.
